Advocacy
ACEC-NV serves the industry and its members through its engagement in state and local policy discussions impacting design professionals and their businesses. ACEC-NV maintains a continual, pro-active presence at the Nevada Legislature and actively engages in issues to protect and advance the design professional industry. Such issues include:
- Advancing transportation and infrastructure funding
- Protecting design professionals from frivolous construction liability
- Protecting the industry against onerous provisions in public contracts
- Ensuring the existence of Quality Based Selection
- Defending the distinction between engineer and contractor
- Maintaining a healthy business environment for design professionals and their firms
- Providing expertise to elected and public officials with regard to policies affecting the design, construction and maintenance of public infrastructure.
Similarly, through its board and committee members, ACEC-NV engages with local public entities to work through both policy matters impacting the profession as well as issues involving the day-to-day interactions of the design professional industry and governmental entities. All of these efforts are aimed to provide a healthy, efficient and profitable environment for design professionals in Nevada.
